Training: My Personal Best Practices

Since 2015, I've conducted thousands of hours of training for clients, partners, and colleagues. Here are some of my best practices that apply to every scenario:

➡️ I always arrive at least 5-10 minutes early to avoid technical mishaps.

➡️ I always do prep work, even if it's a subject I know like the back of my hand.

➡️ Related to the point above, I jot down notes in a Google Doc or on paper to keep myself on track. I don't believe in scripting, but I like staying organized.

➡️ I eliminate distractions like my phone, Slack messages, and notifications. These individuals deserve my full attention.

➡️ Regardless of my day, I show up in a good mood, smile, and present the best version of myself.

➡️ I always turn on my camera to greet attendees if it's an online session, which is often the case.

➡️ I create an engaging and comfortable environment where individuals can ask questions and interact. They deserve to feel heard and understood.

➡️ I'm not afraid to add humour to my sessions.

➡️ I speak clearly and at a pace that's easy to follow.

➡️ I avoid using jargon, buzzwords, or meaningless terms.

➡️ I don't pretend to be the most intelligent person in the room because I'm likely not.

➡️ Practical examples through straightforward storytelling are a necessity.

➡️ I always outline what happens next to keep everyone on the same page.

By following these practices, I've delivered practical and engaging training sessions that leave a lasting impact on my clients, partners, and colleagues.
