"I just want to alleviate concern for others and distract from the pain."
The truth is, I struggled with feelings of loneliness and depression throughout many portions of my life growing up.
Besides my family and friends, the one thing that continually kept me going was my mission to alleviate concern for others and be a distraction from pain.
I discovered my calling through a combination of experiences: accompanying my social worker father to the hospital on weekends, engaging with peers and teachers at school, after-school activities, attending summer sports camps, and putting on performances for my family.
My sole desire has always been to bring joy and laughter to others. Even if it's just for a fleeting moment, I strive to help them forget the troubles that weigh them down.
As a clown, or as I still like to call myself, I observe the world around me with great care, always looking for those who could use a little cheering up or support. While there are certainly others who provide comfort in more profound and admirable ways than I do, I take pride in having found my own unique niche.
The feeling of bringing joy and laughter to others is one of the most comforting and fulfilling experiences I have ever had.
I still encounter moments where troubles weigh me down, but my experience has taught me that this doesn't last forever. Instead, it's easier to laugh and find ways to reduce those troubles, most of which are usually relatively trivial anyway.
No matter what challenges you may be facing, never forget to turn to your personal mission statement. The guiding light will help you navigate through the most challenging times and keep you on track toward your goals. Embrace it with all your heart and let it fuel your passion and determination to overcome any obstacle that comes your way.
If you will excuse me, I must put on a red nose for a little boy named Max. It's incredible to see how he's already becoming a great clown, even better than his father ever dreamed of being.
