The Art of Technical Content Creation
There's an art to writing, voicing, and producing content for your organization while delivering practical training sessions.
My goal?
To make complex solutions simple for anyone to understand.
This applies to both customers and colleagues.
It's my number one priority. Always!
My Process
1) Deep Technical Understanding
- Become obsessed with the technology's nuances
- At SkyHive by Cornerstone and past organizations, I absorb every detail while asking necessary questions for clarification
- I want to be able to navigate the system in my sleep
- I prepare for every scenario to avoid surprises
Content Development
- I start by jotting down thoughts
- Refine into cohesive stories
- Add relatable visuals
- Create digestible information chunks
Content Transformation
- Convert insights into Help Center articles (I've written hundreds of these over the past couple of years)
- Repurpose content for trainer guides, narration scripts and training workshop overviews
- Maintain consistent branding throughout
Multimedia Production
- Leverage my voice over background
- Produce straightforward, effective video content (always with subtitles)
- Tell cohesive stories through multiple formats
My Approach
I wear many hats:
- Researcher
- Technical writer
- Trainer
- Enablement
- Voice-over artist
- Producer
- Marketer
While the final products appear straightforward, they reflect 15 years of experience and skill development.
I hold myself to high standards and pretty hard on myself, but my diverse background has inevitably enhanced everything I write, produce and deliver. I've included some examples below, as I'm guilty of not sharing my work enough.
